Many of the latest Sat Nav’s now come complete with the latest technologies including Speed Camera detection warnings, a handy tool most will agree unless of course you’re the French government.
As of the 3rd January 2012 the French government released decree nº 2012-3, which states that it is illegal to be warned about the position of fixed or mobile speed cameras while you are driving in France.
Drivers who are caught using any such device may risk a fine of up to €1500.
Leading Sat Nav manufacturers advise customers to update their devices to remove the feature for France, or alternatively to switch the function off when travelling in/through France.
For further information on the rules of using speed camera detection please contact your Sat Nav manufacturer for the latest advice.
