Floorball, is a type of floor hockey, and is an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s in Sweden.
Floorball is played by over 2.5million people worldwide in over 50 countries. In the Cotswolds area alone, they have a youth league, which play nationally, but over 46 primary schools’ teams, in the Cotswold Schools League.
Angela’s son Jack, at the age of 17 will be the youngest member of Team GB when they travel to Poland next month. Jack started playing Floorball 9 years ago, at primary school where it was introduced after a friend’s father returned from the Army having seen the sport played in Canada.
Jack was previously part of the youth team in January 2008 that played in the Gothia cup in Sweden, the first time ever that GB had put a youth team into this event and was also part of the under 19's GB team that attended the Boys world cup qualifiers in Benidorm September 2010.
Jack’s Mum, Angela Gittus commented ‘We are very proud of him. He will be the youngest member of the team which obviously shows how talented and dedicated he is’!
Angela and the rest of the Auto-Sleepers team would like to wish Jack and all of Team GB the very best of luck in their upcoming matches.
